Johnathan Kuipers

Clinical Social Worker,  Therapist

MSW | RCSW

As a Registered Clinical Social Worker, I am dedicated to providing compassionate, holistic, and evidence-based mental health supports. My practice is informed by many different theoretical orientations and intervention frameworks - click here for more information about my approach.

The integrity of my practice is upheld, not only through compliance with regulatory frameworks, but more importantly through my embodiment of the various methods, roadmaps, and guiding principles of psychotherapeutic work. I am a work in progress and I am constantly learning more as I engage in regular continuing professional development. I exemplify my commitment to lifelong learning by continuously developing my skills in areas that are relevant to my practice and are of interest.

With extensive training and experience, I offer a safe, confidential space for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings, work through challenges, and achieve personal growth.

My services adhere to the ethical guidelines and standards of practice of the Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW).  I am a Registered Clinical Social Worker (RCSW) with the Alberta and British Columbia Colleges of Social Workers, an RSW with the Ontario College of Social Worker and Social Service Workers, and a member various other professional associations.

In addition to therapeutic counselling, I offer clinical supervision to other health professionals and provide consulting on topics of diversity and inclusion, ethics, critical incident debriefing, and mediation. I also also offer opportunities for professional development and education on topics related to mindfulness, trauma, body work, and emotional regulation.

I redefined my practice during Covid-19 and embraced a fully nomadic lifestyle, continuing to do so to this day. My mobile office serves as a safe and confidential space for virtual client sessions, using technology to ensure privacy and comfort.

As I travel the Pacific North West and engage with diverse cultures, on diverse lands. I am dedicated to promoting, respecting, and understanding the sacred histories of the communities and landscapes I visit. I take inspiration from the land and often share land-based reflections in my resources.

In an effort to maintain transparency and accountability, I have included links to my code of ethics, the regulatory bodies I am registered with, my psychology today verification, as well as a page I created to discuss my values.
